Scholarship Program

In partnership with HELP – The Health Education for Latinos Program, we are proud to offer scholarships specifically for low-income Latino students from California’s Central Valley who are pursuing health-related careers. HELP conducts fundraising campaigns and works closely with UWLF to ensure these scholarships reach the students who need them most.

Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,000, and students interested in health professions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Introduction

The United We Lead Foundation (UWLF) Scholarship Fund was established in 2019

With the mission of providing financial assistance to underserved, low-income, first-generation college students who are in pursuit of higher education. Since then, UWLF has awarded $254,000 in scholarships to students from the California Central Valley region.

Interested applicants must submit a COMPLETED application and might go through an interview process.

The UWLF awards scholarships based on a comprehensive process. A scholarship committee will review the completed applications and score them based on the following areas: academic accomplishments, community service, references, personal statement, an essay, and financial need. Scholarships are awarded annually. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or legal status. Scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds.

If selected, scholarship recipients must attend an in-person scholarship ceremony in Fresno, CA. Date and location TBD. Selected recipients will be notified byJune 20th, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

$1,000 – $2,000 in Awards

Application Deadline: Monday, June 1st, 2026. Late applications will not be considered.

Minimum 3.0 GPA

Students from the following Central Valley counties will be prioritized (Fresno, Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Tulare, Kings, Inyo, Kern)

Priority will be given to LatinX students.

Demonstrate economic hardship

Applicants do NOT need to be citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States

SPECIFIC CRITERIA

H.E.L.P Scholarship: – $2,000 awards

  • High school seniors entering accredited college/university Fall 2026
  • Enrolled university students (undergraduate level)
  • Community college and technical college students
  • LatinX, low-income students
  • Must pursue a major in a health-related field.

UWLF Scholarship: $1,000 awards

  • High school seniors entering accredited college/university Fall 2026
  • Enrolled university students (undergraduate and graduate level)
  • Community college and technical college students
  • First-generation, and/or low-income students.

CHECKLIST: All applicants to the United We Lead Foundation Scholarship MUST submit ALL of the following documents as part of their Application:

  • Scholarship Application
  • Resume (Updated)
  • Personal Statement (Describing family history, community involvement, academic achievements, and academic/professional goals) – 300 words max
  • Essay – High School seniors and undergraduate students answer the following prompt: How are you unique? (Discuss your background, identity, interest, or talent) – 500 words max. Graduate students essay promptWhen did you become interested in your chosen field of study and what have you learned from it?- 500 words max
  • 1 Academic/Professional Letter of Recommendation (Recent – not older than 6 months)
  • Proof of College Acceptance or College Enrollment
  • Unofficial Transcript (reflecting most recent enrollment from college/university). Unofficial High School transcript is required for graduating High School seniors.
